My Ten Perspective on shooting Video

I started to shoot video using 3ccd camera since January these year, and through that short time experience, i've learned a lot of things with the help of my team, and come up to have some own perspectives that serve as my personal rule on shooting video:

1. LESS IS MORE
Less stuff on a frame is more elegant and more artistic. trust me it is.

2. UNDER THAN OVER.
its better to be under than overexpose.probably because i like darker video than bright, but not all the time.

3. BOKEH, GRAIN, VIGNETTE,
most of them dont like it but for me, those stuffs gives more drama and makes a footage more cinematic, i wish i could shoot with a bokeh

4. NO FOURTHY FIVE DEGREE .
if you are shooting in a flat ground and not inside of a sinking ship then what's the reason to come up with a fourthy five degree frame? com'mon man, dont be a phony, isnt it nice to see your shot was in a good cinematic angle. to make sure it was horizontaly aligned with the ground, use tripod.

5. GLIDECAM WAS INVENTED.
I dont know much about using that stuff, but i used that twice in some of our shoot and i found it very useful. it was invented because it was proven that it can give stabilize moving shot that our bare hand cannot, so if you dont have it, dont attemp to shoot like you had it. if you still insists, your footage was an instant crap.

6. TRIPOD IT,
tripod has been my favorite thirdparty tool on every shoots and coverage, for those who have shaky hands like me, this was an answer, if i could use it all the time i will never put it off my camera, it was a very nice tool for stabilize and better angle.

7. SUBJECT ON CANDID
want more drama? dont let them know you we're doing you work behind them.

8. RULE OF THIRD STILL RULES!
Still, the rule of third gives us a better composition. as much as possible, subject not centered.

9. DEPTH OF FIELD
the nickname of a cinematic shot

10, I GOT A THIRD EYE WHEN MY STOMACH IS FULL
working with empty stomach is really hard, sometimes it makes me forget of the nine perspective on the top, so i never let that happen cause i work best when i am full

JUNE SECOND WEEK

"FIRE"
photo was taken last summer on Caylabne beach reasort when my tetay and her family invited me for a beach hop, a classic framing and shot, but i really love this one.
My camera was messing that time, i thought it was my light meter because it supposed to be under, my meter obvioulsy on the underexposed side, i thought it was my camera but i discover it was the lens something causes the shutter to open hard . you can check its property to prove its crazy setting, i did a little level manipulation on adobe photoshop CS3.

im starting the whole month of june, late post but this was for the first week

FIRST WEEK OF JUNE:

taken two days ago, June 09. my brother and i decided to play with my sisters undies while hanging on the roof near our door, he was responsible for directing and holding the slave flash while i was shooting it. i made a little process in lightroom to boost saturation. I like it so much but doesnt mean to be gay or something haha
here are more properties.

my first time in HDV

yup, i was doing a cali based 18th year birthday party. im editing it in HDV format and wow, at least i realize how slow my computer was. im struggling on this project for about a week now and i know my boss wasnt happy about it, i mean who does, a couple of move then it freezes for about half minute, rendering takes three times slower than rendering in SD project. i think i need some upgrade here. anyway, nothing's new today, i just got home from tet's house and a lil tired here, but still need to sit infront and finished this project, im in the middle of rendering at this moment. oh, i need some coffee, i guess i am sleepy. anyways i was thinking of buying a pro account for my flickr, i didnt noticed that the free account was only up to two hundred images. i only noticed it lately when i saw my first upload was missing, in free account, when your picture was counted to two hundred, the last photo on the last page will be automatically erased you upload another one, lot of photos was missing on my stream. damn. I dont read a lot of stuffs like that. contracts, agreement, terms, rules, i dont know why, i know how important those are but i just dont like reading stuffs like that i rather ask somebody rather than reading those kind of stuffs. it bores me a lot, cause i know it always ended up to the host's convinience.

Hardest assignment this year

This Year's Hardest assignment.. to cover a surgical operation.. its like shooting without looking what is being captured. but still had guts for a souvenir :)
